Terms of Use

Terms governing use of The Africans Time, including permitted website use, editorial information, commercial content, third-party services, intellectual property and submissions.

Updated

These Terms of Use apply to access to and use of The Africans Time at https://theafricanstime.com/.

By using the website, you agree to use it lawfully and in accordance with these terms. These terms describe how the website and its published material may be used without changing the separate editorial standards governing how journalism is produced.

A. Use of the Website

About the Website

The Africans Time is an independent pan-African digital media and intelligence platform covering politics, economy, business, investment, trade, diplomacy, infrastructure, energy, technology, mining, critical minerals and regional developments across Africa.

The publication was established in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 2023 and is founded and owned by Daniel Bekele.

Permitted Use

You may:

  • read and browse publicly available pages;
  • share links to articles;
  • quote reasonable portions with appropriate attribution;
  • use publicly available material for ordinary personal or research purposes where permitted.

Appropriate attribution should make clear when information or wording originates from The Africans Time rather than presenting the publication's work as the user's own original material.

Prohibited Use

You must not knowingly:

  • use the website for unlawful activity;
  • attempt to compromise website security;
  • introduce malware or malicious code;
  • impersonate The Africans Time or its staff;
  • misrepresent editorial content as your own;
  • remove attribution in a misleading way;
  • use the website to facilitate fraud or deception;
  • interfere with normal website operation.

Automated Access

Automated access must not interfere with site operation, create unreasonable load or reproduce substantial portions of The Africans Time content in a way that substitutes for the original publication.

The Africans Time may restrict abusive automated access where it interferes with normal operation or substantially republishes the site in place of the original source.

B. Editorial Information

Informational Purpose

The Africans Time publishes journalism, analysis, explainers, rankings, comparisons, interviews, guides and other informational content.

Information may change after publication. Articles may be corrected, clarified or updated when new evidence becomes available. Readers should therefore consider the publication date, update information and the nature of the subject when relying on time-sensitive material.

No Guarantee of Outcomes

The Africans Time does not guarantee:

  • investment returns;
  • financial outcomes;
  • legal outcomes;
  • medical outcomes;
  • business outcomes;
  • market performance;
  • project completion;
  • future political or economic results.

Rankings and Reviews

The Africans Time may publish rankings, reviews and comparisons based on data, disclosed criteria, editorial assessment or a combination of these, depending on the specific material.

Paid visibility does not determine editorial ranking position.

Advertisers cannot purchase a favourable independent review or editorial recommendation.

Corrections

Potential factual errors may be reported to [email protected]. A correction request is assessed on the evidence supporting the disputed factual claim rather than on whether the published material is favourable or unfavourable to its subject.

C. Commercial Content and Services

Advertising

The Africans Time displays advertising, including advertising served through Google AdSense.

Advertising placement does not imply editorial endorsement of an advertiser, product, service or external claim.

Sponsored Content

The Africans Time may publish sponsored or partner content.

Commercial content must be clearly labelled and distinguished from independent journalism. Payment for sponsored material does not provide control over unrelated editorial coverage.

Press Releases

The Africans Time does not offer paid press-release publication as a standard commercial product. Submitted announcements may instead be considered independently by the editorial team.

Affiliate Marketing

The Africans Time does not currently operate an affiliate-marketing programme.

Newsletter and Subscriptions

The Africans Time does not currently operate an active newsletter or paid subscription service.

D. Third-Party Services and Links

The website currently uses or is associated with:

  • Google Analytics for website traffic and audience analytics;
  • Google Search Console for search performance, indexing and technical monitoring;
  • Google AdSense for display and programmatic advertising.

Third-party services operate under their own terms and privacy practices. Their inclusion on or connection with The Africans Time does not make them part of the publication's editorial operation.

The Africans Time may also link to governments, companies, documents, research institutions, media organisations and social platforms.

An external link does not automatically mean that The Africans Time controls, endorses or guarantees the external website, its availability or all information published there.

E. Intellectual Property and Submissions

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, original text, editorial structure, graphics and other original material published by The Africans Time are protected by applicable intellectual-property rights.

Third-party material remains subject to the rights of its respective owner. The presence of third-party material does not transfer ownership of that material to The Africans Time.

Submissions

If you voluntarily send editorial material, source documents, story suggestions or other information to The Africans Time, submission does not guarantee publication.

You should not submit material that you do not have the right to share. Editorial consideration of submitted material does not create a promise of coverage or a particular editorial conclusion.

F. Availability and Reliance

The Africans Time may modify, update, remove or reorganise website content and features.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of every page or service.

Readers remain responsible for evaluating whether information is suitable for their own circumstances and for considering whether material may have changed since publication.

Time-sensitive information such as prices, regulations, market data, project status and public appointments should be checked before significant decisions are made.
